Took a taxi to Playa Palancar. ($25 each way). Waited until the dive boats went out and there were enough people for snorkeling. Boat took us to the reef and then drifted with us, so you didn't have to fight the current back. First El Cielo reef: huge starfish, a ray. very little coral. But then we went to Columbia reef: wow! That saved us a taxi fare. We spent the next few hours on the Playa Palancar beach and there were plenty of taxis there waiting to take people back to town. On Palancar beach there was a restaurant, bathrooms, showers, recliners with an umbrella for a small fee, massages and souveiners. It was the perfect day on Cozumel! Playa Palancar. We saw several sharks and all kinds of sea life. Really amazing sights and many different fish to see. We were down between 40 and 65 feet deep so certainly not where the snorkelers go.
