At th9 don't build xbows until queen is at least 10, max all troops and buildings and get heroes 20/20 before moving on to 10. It's true that dark is easier to farm at th10 but it's also much harder to attack well at th10. Be a th9 for a while, figure out how it works, and get good at th9 before moving on.
