Looking through the Lyman’s 50th bible, the mid weight bullets say IMR 4350 and it appears the heavy weights suggest H4350. It also claims that Accurate 4350 was created to compete against IMR 4350, but you can’t use the IMR data loads. The temperature stability of H4350 means it has a different formula than IMR4350. They are different. Although the load data can be useful for estimating the performance of the other, it cannot be counted on other than to give you a good idea where to set your minimum as you work your way up your own safety testing.

stanley52. Ok so there is COMPLETELY conflicting information all over the internet about RL-17 and whether or not it is temperature stable. They claim it is, and some agree; however, many others do not. Most people who claim it is fairly variable with changing temperature agree that it changes about .8fps per 1 degree Fahrenheit of temperature ...And many days, IMR 4064 has given us phenomenal results. Eventually we lead into the H4350 vs IMR 4350 and we all agreed that the IMR gave better accuracy too. I must say I'm finding myself drawn back to the old, low tech, powders that are frowned upon by benchrest shooters. Now don't get me wrong, I'm NOT picking on anyone.

Because of the temperature stability attribute of H4350 it would be my powder of choice if I had both available to me and had to pick one to work up a load.

Old IMR 4350 is under the radar and is not headline news in the 6.5 Creedmoor reloading chatter but its a great performing powder. I am not saying the following because of any great talent : I zero'd my 6.5 CM rifle at 100, 300, 600, skipped 800 yds and final zero'd at 1000 yds. That was 12 rds shot to do it using a spotter.

Barnes didn't have data for the .308 caliber 180 grain TTSX fitted in a 30-06 so I called them and used the data for the H 4350. Using the data for H 4350 and using IMR 4350 I found a load that shoots 1/2 MOA in my rifle. It's a max H 4350 load but I'm using IMR 4350. Not showing any pressure signs and it's a great load.

H 4350 is AR 2209. When first released in the 80's, it was a about 5% faster than IMR 4350. When ADI got the contracts of supply to Hodgdon, it changed the burning rate to slightkly slower than IMR which hurt no-one and made the powder more flexible in a lot of magnums so it was an improved product in the market place.I have both IMR and AA in 4350, but really didn't want to buy any H4350 until I tried the IMR powder.
